Join us for an online book study and discussion about Christopher Such’s The Art and Science of Teaching Primary Reading.
This book is an excellent place to start if you are just beginning your journey into the Science of Reading (SoR) or Structured Literacy (SL). It is written in an accessible, common sense style for teachers by a teacher with plenty of experience teaching reading. Like many of us, frustrated with the reading results of his students, he went on a deep dive into the reading research and lucky for us decided to write this excellent guide book.
Join us over five sessions hosted each fortnight by Sue Hiland and Michelle Waterman from Teaching Together. You can find more about us here.
This group will run 'live' during Term 4 in 2022.
Week 1 - 13 October - Part I - Reading and It's Origins & Part II - Decoding
Week 2 - 27 October - Part III - Language Comprehension
Week 3 - 10 November - Part IV - Opportunities to Enhance Reading
Week 4 - 24 November - Part V - Addressing Reading Difficulties
Week 5 - 8 November - Part VI - The Reading Diet
We will meet online via Zoom to summarise and discuss our thoughts and questions about that fortnight's chapter/section. Questions will be posted in our Book Study Facebook group prior to the live session.
